Research at GFCSI examines the financing, governance and institutional choices shaping Africa's green transition. We publish applied analysis to inform public policy, investment, institutional development and informed debate.

Our publications programme includes substantial studies in the GFCSI Research Series, policy briefs and other research outputs. Each format has a distinct purpose, with methods, limitations and review arrangements appropriate to the work.

Research Series

GFCSI Research Series

The GFCSI Research Series is a numbered collection of substantial, independent studies examining the institutions, financing and policy choices shaping Africa's green transition. It brings together sector assessments, country diagnostics and thematic research to inform public policy, investment and institutional development.

The series forms part of GFCSI's wider publications programme, alongside policy briefs and shorter insights. Each study will explain its methods and limitations and undergo documented review before release. Flagship reports will receive independent external technical review.

GFCSI Research Series No. 01/2027

The State of Solar Energy in SomaliaMarket, Investment and Policy Outlook 2027

GFCSI has approved the inception note for this study, with research scheduled to commence on 1 November 2026. The study will examine Somalia's solar energy markets, investment and financing conditions, policy and institutional arrangements, and opportunities for productive use and local value creation. Its outlook will cover 2027–2030.

First quarter of 2027, subject to completion of research and review.

Types of Publication

GFCSI Research Series
A numbered collection of substantial, independent studies, including sector assessments, country diagnostics and thematic research. Inclusion in the series follows GFCSI’s research and publication procedures.
Policy Briefs
Concise analysis of a defined policy issue, drawing out evidence, choices and implications for decision-makers.
Other Research Outputs
Evidence reviews, technical papers and analytical resources developed for specific research or institutional purposes.

Standards

Research Quality & Independence

GFCSI seeks to make its research transparent, credible and useful. Publications explain their evidence, methods and relevant limitations. Review arrangements are proportionate to the type of output, with independent external technical review for flagship reports.

Authorship, contributions, funding and relevant interests are disclosed as appropriate. GFCSI's institutional oversight supports research quality and integrity while respecting authors' responsibility for their analysis.
