GFCSI Launches Research Series with Solar Energy Study in Somalia

The Green Finance & Climate Strategy Institute (GFCSI) is introducing the GFCSI Research Series, an institutional publication series examining the financing, governance and institutional choices shaping Africa’s green transition.
The first study, The State of Solar Energy in Somalia: Market, Investment and Policy Outlook 2027, will be published as GFCSI Research Series No. 01/2027. Following approval of its inception note, research is scheduled to commence on 1 November 2026.
The study will examine solar energy market development, investment and financing conditions, policy and institutional arrangements, and opportunities for productive use and local value creation. Its outlook will cover 2027–2030.
The research will combine documentary review, stakeholder interviews and selected case studies. Publication is intended for the first quarter of 2027, subject to completion and independent external technical review.
The GFCSI Research Series will extend beyond solar energy, bringing together substantial studies across the institute’s areas of work.
GFCSI welcomes enquiries from public institutions, universities, energy-sector businesses, financial institutions and development partners interested in contributing relevant evidence or discussing potential collaboration.
